Multi Beam E-Band AESA Transpoder
Multi Beam E-Band AESA Transpoder
At Thorium Space, we design innovative solutions in the field of space telecommunications on a global scale. As part of the NCBiR project, we are focused on creating a transponder and an E-band antenna that would allow increasing the transmission speed towards Satellite-Earth and Satellite-Satellite. High frequencies in the 60-90 GHz range were rarely used until recently due to the need for very complicated technologies. Our competences and international partnerships have enabled us to develop a solution that will become attractive in the near future, even on small satellite platforms.

Flat Panel Active Antenna for Ka-Band
Flat Panel Active Antenna for Ka-Band
The aim of the project is to develop a flat panel active antenna for Ka-band.
Thorium Space is developing a flat panel active antenna which will be used as a terrestrial terminal for space telecommunications systems as Satcom on The Move. The antenna will be very low profile, lighter, and smaller than other solutions available on the market. Thanks to the use of modern technology it will improve the end-user experience. By using our antenna, it will be possible to reduce the costs associated with both the production and maintenance operations of the entire system.
The project is developed with ABAN funding which operates within Operational Programme Smart Growth (BRIdge Alfa Programme)
Project budget: 1,000,000.00 PLN, EU funding: 800,000.00 PLN.
SUBCOM Satellite sensing and communication system for suborbital rockets
SUBCOM Satellite sensing and communication system for suborbital rockets
SUBCOM Satellite sensing and communication system for suborbital rockets
Project’s objective is to develop communication systems dedicated to space and rocket applications. A satellite communication module, a rocket communication module, a ground station, a localization beacon and a mobile beacon signal receiver will be developed. The objectives will be achieved thanks to research and development efforts, manufacturing of the prototype and laboratory analysis. Project’s completion will allow offering new and innovative communication systems on the global market. Targeted customers are manufacturers of satellite platforms, suborbital rockets, small orbital rockets as well as military missiles.
Total value: 47 mln PLN (11m EURO)
5G base station in the millimeter band
5G base station in the millimeter band
The objective of the Project is to develop a base station transceiver module operating in the millimeter wave range for 5G networks with an integrated electronically steerable array antenna module.
The result of the Project will be a base station transceiver (BTS) device for 5G (Micro Cell) networks operating in the millimeter wave band (26; 28 GHz).
The projected device will be equipped with actively controlled antenna arrays allowing intelligent use of network resources.
Tactical Adaptive Satellite Transponder
Tactical Adaptive Satellite Transponder
In the T-XPDR project, we will design and develop a working prototype of a fully digital,
software-defined telecommunication transponder in the Ka-Band frequency range (Space
Payload). It uses the latest, electronically steered flat panel antennas (FPA AESA) for uplink and downlink, SDR/SDS, and Cognitive Radio technology to provide tactical satellite communication from LEO/MEO and GEO orbits. Due to the use of fully digital radio and matrix antennas, this transponder will provide software-defined, multi-beam, beam tracking, beam hopping, and beamforming technology and also will provide all types of modulation schemes: DVBS2x, QAM, Spread Spectrum, and Protected Wave Form with the possibility to create custom modulation schemes on the board. Also with more advanced software evolution, will be possible to have anti-jamming and interference chasing on the board. The transponder will be compatible with the Ka ground terminal already in use and can be used on most Satellite platforms.
