Thorium Space has signed a $1.85 million contract with Sivers Semiconductors Co. to both develop and put into production breakthrough chipsets for SATCOM ground terminals and the latest generation of digitally defined satellites in the global market. Under the contract, four innovative MMIC integrated circuits will be developed, enabling the realization of active electronically steerable Ka-band planar antennas, both in ground terminals (allowing parallel communications with multiple satellites in different orbits – the so-called “make it before brake it”, as well as a space chipset unique on the global market for applications aboard telecommunications satellites.
